The fund performance stack
Every number an LP or GP uses to answer "how is this fund doing" — multiples, DPI, RPI, TVPI, rate of return, IRR, and exposure — each with a live calculator that matches the numbers computed inside Plantactic.
How they relate
Realized value (DPI) and unrealized value (RPI) always sum to total value (TVPI). Gross figures always sit above net figures — the gap between them is fund-level fee and carry drag.
Multiples
3Point-in-time multiples on invested capital.
Gross Multiple
How many times over a fund has returned an investment's proceeds relative to the capital invested, before fund-level fees and carried interest are deducted.
Net MOICNet Multiple
How many times over a fund has returned distributions to LPs relative to the capital they've paid in, after management fees and carried interest.
MOICMultiple on Invested Capital
The total value — realized proceeds plus unrealized book value — an investment has generated per dollar of capital invested.
Cash flows
3Realized, unrealized, and total value delivered to LPs.
Distributions to Paid-in Capital
The realized portion of fund performance — how much cash a fund has actually returned to LPs per dollar they've paid in, excluding any unrealized value.
RPIResidual Value to Paid-in Capital
The unrealized portion of fund performance — how much value a fund is still holding, per dollar LPs have paid in, based on current marks.
TVPITotal Value to Paid-in Capital
The complete picture of fund performance — realized distributions plus unrealized residual value — per dollar of capital LPs have paid in.
Rates
4Performance expressed as a percentage or an annualized rate.
Rate of Return
The percentage gain or loss on invested capital, expressed relative to the 1.00x break-even point rather than as a raw multiple.
Gross IRRGross IRR
The annualized rate of return on invested capital before fees and carried interest, assuming the gross multiple was achieved over a given holding period.
Net IRRNet IRR
A net-of-fee read on fund performance, expressed as distributions against paid-in capital and framed against the break-even line, rather than a time-annualized rate.
Interim IRRInterim IRR
A point-in-time, provisional read on distributions against paid-in capital, framed as of a specific reporting date rather than as a final or annualized figure.
Risk
1Capacity and exposure against LP commitments.
